Updates from the CAHS Faculty Senators

November 2023

Highlights from the October 3rd meeting:

1. Mandatory reporting of efforts to support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in faculty evaluations has ended at ECU. Additionally, faculty are no longer a required to complete one DEI activity each academic year. This was necessary to bring the university into alignment with UNC Policy 300.5.1, section II on political activities, subsection A.5 which covers the new section on the Prohibition on Compelling Speech doc.php (northcarolina.edu). It also brings ECU into alignment with Chapter 126 of the North Carolina General Statutes S364v6.pdf (ncleg.gov)
2. All faculty members are encouraged to view the following video on SSOI and provide feedback using the survey linked here. 

Faculty members are encouraged to view the Faculty Senate agenda prior to each meeting and share any concerns with the CAHS Faculty Senators.
