PA Faculty Member Awarded $1.2 Million Grant!

Kim Stokes, MHS, PA-C, was recently awarded a $1.2 MILLION GRANT for her project, “Meeting the Needs of Rural Underserved Patients: Collaborative Training for Physician Assistant (PA) Learners.”

The award, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), will provide $300,000 per year over four years.

The grant will allow Stokes and her team of faculty collaborators from three departments within the College of Allied Health Sciences and the Brody School of Medicine’s Department of Family Medicine to work toward providing:

  • Expansion of rural training sites in an attempt to retain rural medical providers
  • Interprofessional learning opportunities between medicine and behavioral health
  • Mediation assistance training for graduates
  • Training as well as CME related to resilience and attempt to decrease burnout of students, preceptors, and faculty
  • Generating an admissions potential pipeline for military veterans
