CAHS Welcomes 2 New Faculty Members!

Welcome to Dr. Nicole Arnold!. Dr. Arnold joins the College as an assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition Science. Dr. Arnold completed her PhD in Food Science & Technology at Virginia Tech in 2019. Her current research aims to assess the landscape of various food-based activities in practice, in order to make recommendations for more effective food policies and procedures. Her research interests include food safety education and interventions, risk communication, consumer perceptions of food and processing methods, and food labeling.

 

 

 

 

CAHS would also like to welcome Dr. Ashley Burch! Dr. Burch joins the College as an assistant professor in the Department of Health Services & Information Management. She attended graduate school at the University of Mississippi and went on to complete two postdoctoral fellowships. Her educational background is in cardiovascular psychophysiology – the intersection between behavior and the cardiovascular system.

Currently, Dr Burch is focused on the management and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. She is the Director of the ECU Atrial Fibrillation Clinic. This interdisciplinary clinic combines exercise, nutritional, psychological, pharmacological, and cardiac treatment for patients with symptomatic atrial fibrillation. Dr. Burch is also interested in sudden cardiac death and has research grants to study behavioral predictors of ventricular arrhythmias.
