PTHE Faculty Member Awarded ECU R/C Grant
Dr. Ryan Wedge, an assistant professor in the PTHE department, has been awarded an ECU Research and Creative Activities Grant for his project “In Silico Experiments to Understand Prioritization of Walking’s Multiple Objectives.”
Human walking is a complex task that balances multiple objectives, such as metabolic cost, gait stability, and joint loading, with preferred movement patterns. Dr. Wedge’s project aims to understand how these objectives are balanced to lead to the symmetrical patterns seen in able-bodied individuals. Through the use of in-silico experiments with a high-performance computer, Dr. Wedge hopes the framework established through his project is one that can be extended to clinical populations in future studies.
Congratulations, Dr. Wedge!
