Congratulations to Dr. Hana Kim
Congratulations to Dr. Hana Kim, PhD student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, for successfully defending her dissertation, “Measurement of Word Retrieval in the Discourse of Persons with Aphasia.”
Dr. Kim’s research interest is focused on bridging the gap between research and clinical practices, especially for discourse outcome measures. Throughout her doctoral studies, she has developed a new tool, core lexicon measure, which is a clinician-friendly method of quantifying lexical use in discourse for persons with aphasia. In her dissertation, she delved more deeply into evaluation of feasibility, reliability and validity for the measure to ensure its clinical utilization.
Dr. Kim’s future goals include integrating the core lexicon measure into mobile technologies for clinicians to conduct automated analyses of discourse in actual practice and improving the quality of measurement in core lexicon measures.
